AHIP certification preparation guide

AHIP offers Medicare plus fraud, waste, and abuse training used by many organizations. Wise Owl is not affiliated with AHIP, and agents should confirm the current carrier-approved training route, year, deadline, fees, attempt limits, and transmission process before purchasing or beginning a course.

Before starting

  • Confirm which plan year and training vendor each carrier accepts.
  • Ask whether entering through a carrier portal affects price or score transmission.
  • Verify your legal name, National Producer Number, email, and profile information.
  • Review carrier rules for attempts, passing score, retakes, and completion deadlines.
  • Reserve uninterrupted time and use a supported browser and reliable connection.

Study areas reflected in CMS guidance

CMS expects annual training and testing to cover Medicare basics, eligibility and enrollment, plan types, Part D, marketing and communications, beneficiary protections, and fraud, waste, and abuse. Agents must also complete plan-specific carrier training for the products they sell.

After completion

  • Save the completion certificate and score report securely.
  • Confirm each carrier received or accepted the result.
  • Complete remaining product modules and attestations.
  • Verify ready-to-sell status rather than assuming certification is complete.
  • Record the plan year, completion date, expiration or renewal date, and evidence location.
